The government’s opinion on the financial effects of the MEE will probably arrive tomorrow, a request made to the Chamber’s Budget Committee by rapporteur Ylenja Lucaselli. The exponent of Fratelli d’Italia explains in Transatlantico that he asked the executive for clarification on the repercussions of the financial instrument and the Undersecretary of Economy Federico Freni responded that the government will take another 24 hours to provide a response. In protest, the opposition abandoned the commission session. “The discussion on the ratification of the MEE will not reach the Chamber tomorrow”, reports a parliamentary source from the majority.
The ratification of the amendments to the Treaty establishing the European Stability Mechanism is on the agenda of the Montecitorio Chamber this week, but only in the fifth item. Firstly, the analysis of the annual market and competition law must be completed (work continues, with the analysis proceeding slowly), then there is a report from the Immunities Committee, relating to the facts relating to former parliamentarian Cosimo Ferri, then the European delegation law and, finally, agri-food crimes. “They will do everything to prevent him from going to the Chamber before the Christmas holidays”, is the opposition’s accusation, given that right after Christmas the Chamber will be busy with the definitive green light for the maneuver. A new meeting of the Group Leaders’ Conference is scheduled tomorrow for 9am, with ‘presidential communications’ on the agenda. The timetable for the maneuver will be provided but in the opposition it is not excluded that the government or the majority may propose a postponement of the MEE’s arrival at the Chamber until after Epiphany.
