Gender disorder, Gasparri asks the minister for intervention: “What are they doing at Careggi”

Another gender delusion. A possible force that risks ruining the existence of dozens of children. A medical practice far from official protocols. At least according to the accurate and timely complaint from the leader of the Forza Italia group in the Senate, Maurizio Gasparri. “Despite the obvious delicacy of the treatment, I learned that at the Careggi hospital in Florence, triptorelin, authorized by the European Medicines Agency for veterinary use, would be administered to 11-year-old children without any psychotherapeutic or psychiatric assistance. Because there simply is no child neuropsychiatry service in that hospital – explained Gasparri – Not only that. The psychological assessments of the very young people who arrive at Careggi to begin the sex change process appear to be particularly superficial. And the green light for drug use would be based on the unacceptable assumption that, with puberty blocked, children have time to explore their gender identity and decide whether to continue the transition process. Clearly, if all this were confirmed, we would not be able to tolerate it.” Gasparri also asked for immediate clarification to “evaluate the elimination of the prescription of triptorelin from medications dispensed by the national health service for gender disorders”. I also believe that it is necessary for the national bioethics committee, which ruled on the use of triptorelin more than 5 years ago, to return to formulate an assessment.”

The senator and leader of the Forza Italia group in the Justice Commission, Pierantonio Zanettin, is also in the same line. “We strongly support President Gasparri’s initiative to fully understand the diagnostic and therapeutic practices and pathways used at the Careggi hospital in Florence with regard to gender dysphoria in children.” The leader of the group in the Tuscan Region of the party founded by Silvio Berlusconi called for the immediate intervention of the Minister of Health. “We want to understand how treatments occur for young patients undergoing transitional therapies – said Marco Stella – In the question presented, Forza Italia also asks Governor Giani and the health advisor for the Tuscany region if they are in favor of eliminating the prescription of triptorelin in medicines dispensed by the national health service for gender disorders and if they intend to request a decision from the national bioethics committee which, on the use of triptorelin, expressed his opinion more than five years ago”.
