The maneuver was approved in the Senate and during the vote there was an opportunity to speak on behalf of Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Economy. In particular, the owner of the Mef focused on the discussions regarding the rejection of the MEE that took place yesterday in the Chamber: “Everyone knew that there were problems with the MEE. We took a step forward in the Stability Pact, but the challenges in Europe are very different. It’s not that Europe is always right. For example, they put an end to the Ita-Lufthansa case. They are also wrong. It’s not that Europe is always right and Italy is always wrong.”
Giorgetti, speaking to journalists after the vote on the budget law in the Senate, then assumed responsibility for the budget work: “Many criticized the measure, but we live in complicated times, let’s hope that there won’t always be war in Europe. We decided to help the most needy Italian families in 2024, because we realized that unfortunately this war also brought a lot of inflation to Italian homes. Ignoring this would be ignoring reality.” Finally, an analysis of the damage caused by the Superbonus: “It’s not as if we live on Mars, we are waiting for the latest projections regarding the cost. We have a problem with maintaining public accounts from the which we make decisions. Each month of super bonus – explained Giorgetti – costs us 4.5 billion, which is exactly how much we allocated as an increase to health for the entire year 2024. Each month of extension consumes exactly the allocation for health. If you don’t understand this, you don’t reason honestly.”
