The Ministry of Education and Merit published an expression of interest in expanding the Pension Plan aimed at school and MIM employees, including new sectors and operators and providing more benefits and services. In particular, banks, financial intermediaries and other entities authorized to grant credit in Italy will be involved, with the aim of acquiring, among other things, benefits and services under subsidized conditions for the granting of mortgages for the purchase of housing, personal loans and other services banking.
This decision comes after learning of the extremely reassuring data from the experimental social assistance plan launched in October 2023, aimed at an audience of around 1 million and 200 thousand workers who work in and for schools (teachers, educators, school managers , administrative, technical and auxiliary staff and personnel in service at the Ministry), signed with some large economic operators, including Coldiretti, Trenitalia, Italo, Ita Airways and the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino. The latter, each in their sector, have recognized concessions when purchasing goods and services with discounts of up to 30% in relation to market rates. Based on the data collected to date, it was possible to verify the positive impact of the proposed measures, which registered 242 thousand accesses to the section reserved for concessions; Therefore, MIM shared with the aforementioned economic operators the desire to renew existing agreements for the year 2024, currently in the signing phase.
“In October – words from Giuseppe Valditara, Minister of Education and Merit – we promised to extend the Social Assistance Plan to other private entities, guaranteeing all school and MIM workers increasingly more services and benefits in relation to all the main headings of expenses of Italian families. Today we can say that we have followed through on this commitment: by investing in strong synergy between public institutions and economic operators, we want to recognize the right and concrete attention to those who work for the future and growth of young people. This is what we mean by the concept of ‘alliance for schools’.”
