The tax burden falls, family income and purchasing power increase. Inflation then falls (the latter value calculated for December). Numbers that, however, gave the “start” to the political conflict. At the government level, the Minister of Business, Adolfo Urso, focuses on inflation numbers and the tricolor”. The prophets of doom have been proven wrong.” A stance that is the target of criticism from the opposition. Debora Serracchiani, deputy of the Democratic Party, attacks: «A zero point reduction in inflation is considered a success while people’s daily experience is made of price increases, sacrifices and sacrifices. And we are talking about essential consumer goods such as transport or food, against which Meloni’s “tricolor cart” was irrelevant. There is a social and economic issue that must be addressed, and not remaining silent as Meloni did at the press conference.”
From M5S, deputy Daniela Torto observes: «Italian inflation, certified by Istat, is only decreasing thanks to the significant drop in the prices of energy goods, regulated and not». In general, in the government and the majority, the data is collected in a positive way and the health of our economy is highlighted, which leaves behind a difficult economic year. Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the League Matteo Salvini dedicated a post on Instagram to the topic: «Down with inflation and fiscal pressure, on family incomes. After challenging years for many Italians, 2024 begins with the first encouraging data from Istat that attest – cautiously – to the positive momentum of the Italian economy. A good sign that encourages the government to continue on this path.”
And once again, the leader of the FdI group, Tommaso Foti, highlights: «As Istat data attests, Italy has been better since sending the current opposition home. Family disposable income increases by 1.8% and consumption grows by 1.2%, in addition to the increase in pensions.” And he jokes: “Another own goal from the prophets of doom: the anti-Meloni left playing against Italy should change the record because the one they have been broadcasting for a year is broken.” From Forza Italia, the leader of the group in the Senate, Maurizio Gasparri, observes: «Inflation tends to almost zero and the purchasing power of families increases. The Istat data is very clear and demonstrates that the center-right government’s policy is good for Italy. Let’s continue like this.” Still among the Azzurri, Paolo Barelli, leader of the group in the Chamber highlights: «The economy is growing, the purchasing power of families is strengthened, taxes have been reduced. We have done a lot and we will do more in the coming months, because our compass is the good of the citizens and the relaunch of our country’s economic growth. The opposition should support this, instead of waiting for everything to go wrong in exchange for low-level political gains.”
