“It is unacceptable that some center-left parties that were lucky enough to be able to rent Ater properties are in arrears of more than 90%.” This is the complaint to «Il Giornale» by Federico Rocca, councilor of the Fratelli d’Italia quota and president of the transparency commission of the municipality of Rome. According to what the newspaper edited by Alessandro Sallusti reconstructs, of the 54 Ater properties leased to political parties in Rome, only one is occupied by Fratelli d’Italia and one by the now former UDC, while «the others correspond to all the offices of the Party Democrat and center-left parties. In fact, of all the properties available, 21 are PD offices” and to date “the majority of these entities are in arrears”.
«The last update on tax damages for the municipality of Rome is from January 2021 and amounted to just over 2 million euros in arrears. A number that today will have increased taking into account the new abusive realities, but that, despite the aforementioned law requiring a quarterly report on the situation, neither Ater nor the Municipality of Rome have published more”, highlights Il Giornale, which now has the possession of the list of delinquent party activities: “The Democratic Party is entitled to 21 offices out of 54, of which 18 are in default, while the Rifondazione Comunista is entitled to 13 premises, of which 10 are in default. The remaining premises are divided between movements and still left-wing parties such as Sinistra Ecológica which, in 2021, had a debt of around 261 thousand euros”.
“The situation is no longer tolerable – Rocca thunders – Roman citizens cannot pay for the positions of the Democratic Party and other center-left political forces, given that every day they are already forced to pay for the inconveniences of poor governance in the city” .
