Matteo Salvini in the round in the interview with Agorà, Rai3’s morning program presented by Roberto Inciocchi. The League leader and deputy prime minister focused in particular on the internal relations of the center-right, especially with regard to the Regionals game: “Yesterday at Palazzo Chigi we obviously also talked about the Regionals. We intend to go together and win the 2024 regionals as in 2023. But we will reach an agreement. At a local level there are a lot of good people, in the Regions and also in the Municipalities. For me it is always better to support the outgoing party, that is, voters ask me for center-right unity. Removing the third term ban guarantees voters freedom of choice, there is no two term limit on terms and the League will continue this battle. We are not at risk, he is not in the market for negotiating regional elections.”
The Minister of Transport continued talking about the bond with Giorgia Meloni: “With Giorgia we have a relationship that, before this government experience, was never so positive. Yesterday I spoke to Giorgia, Tajani was not there. We talked about the government’s agenda, I told her at the Ministry of Infrastructure what we have. I updated her on what I am doing as a minister with great satisfaction. Then we obviously talk about the regional ones, there are Sardinia, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Piedmont, Umbria. We plan to go together and win in 2024, just like we won all the regionals in 2023.”
Finally, for Salvini there is room for a new wink at General Roberto Vannacci, who the League would like to nominate in the European elections: “We are talking about it. The general is a person I respect.”
