Rai approves industrial plan: “Digital transformation objective”

Rai’s Board of Directors, meeting in Rome under the presidency of Marinella Soldi, gave its approval to the definitive text of the new Services Contract, shared with the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy following the changes proposed by the Parliamentary Committee for the general direction and supervision of radio and television services. The approved text will then be assessed by the Council of Ministers, before finally being published in the Official Gazette.

At the same meeting, the Board of Directors analyzed and approved the Industrial Plan 2024-26, illustrated by CEO Roberto Sergio, and gave the green light to the 2024 Budget. The main objective of the Industrial Plan is the digital transformation of the ‘agency. The Plan, in synergy with the objectives of the new Service Provision Contract 2023-28, aims to guarantee Rai’s structural stability, achieving economic and financial sustainability through a path that transforms the Company into a Digital Media Company, with a focus on new technologies and the valorization of internal professionalism. At the same time, the Plan intends to reiterate the fulfillment of the essential mission of public service conferred on Rai on priority issues of public debate, including economic, environmental and social sustainability.

The objective of the Plan is to transform Rai thanks to an investment program that foresees incremental resources equal to 225 million euros. The implementation of the outlined digital transformation investments will be supported by the appreciation of a stake in Rai Way SpA, while ensuring that Rai will maintain the majority of the share capital. However, Rai remains interested in evaluating the subsidiary’s industrial development prospects. The Plan also foresees interventions to optimize the real estate perimeter that implement the indications contained in the Real Estate Plan already approved in November 2023.
