Migration emergency, distortions in flow management are highlighted by Vittorio Feltri in his daily column published in Il Giornale on January 29th. The editorial director points the finger at the benefactor of certain leftists who do more harm than good. “In fact, for decades we have conducted a reception policy based on the completely incorrect and false idea that it is enough to open our ports and arms to be a happy and prosperous, inclusive and multicultural country – attacks Feltri – where non-EU citizens automatically integrate, they work, they observe our rules, the law, they accept our customs. We’ve already been told some nonsense, but allow me to say that this was the most colossal in history. In fact, integration is a difficult, long and tiring process, the results of which, despite the efforts made, are always uncertain. And not all migrants arrive here with the desire to be part of the Italian social and economic fabric.”
The failures of this situation have a first and last name. “Who is to blame for this and other similar distortions? – asks Feltri again – Meloni who has been at the head of the executive for just over a year or the previous governments that did not manage the migration phenomenon and simply suffered it passively “The welcoming model which was not conceived and implemented by the majority of today, but by the progressive majorities of yesterday and the day before, has failed. What to do?”
First, state the principle that not just anyone can enter Italy. Anyone who does not have the right to stay there must be sent back to their country of origin. With regard to minors, I believe that the State must make a greater effort, that it must provide them with the necessary instruments so that they can save themselves and assimilate into our civilization, instruct them, educate them, welcome them, avoiding in any way that can become a social problem. But be careful: if, upon reaching the age of majority, they demonstrate that they have no intention of respecting the essential norms and values of our system, they should be sent home. No buts and no ifs. Decades of permissiveness and cheap improvements have already caused a lot of damage, some of which is irreparable.”
