Piano Mattei, Meloni illustrates the fundamental pillars: from energy to infrastructure

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni chaired the first meeting of the Mattei Plan control room in Palazzo Chigi. The functions assigned to the body are: coordinating the Government’s activities with African Nations, finalizing and constantly updating the Plan, monitoring its implementation and approving the annual report to Parliament. The meeting was attended by, in addition to the ministries involved and the Conference of Regions and Provinces, representatives of the various State bodies and companies and public companies, universities, research and the third sector that deal with cooperation and development. The composition of the control room foresees the involvement and participation of additional public and private entities, based on the issues and interventions on the agenda.

During the meeting, the six pillars of the Mattei Plan (education/training; health; water and hygiene; agriculture; energy; infrastructure) and the pilot projects launched, in the first phase of the Plan’s implementation, in nine African nations were recalled: Algeria, Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco, Mozambique and Tunisia. Furthermore, an overview was made of the first operational missions carried out by the Mattei Plan Mission Structure and the next ones scheduled. The visit of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, to Egypt, scheduled for March 17th, also fits into this framework.
