«Want the news of the day? Appearances can be deceiving.” Alessandro Giuli, Minister of Culture, besieged by reporters as he addresses the Chamber for question period at the Collegio Romano, headquarters of the ministry, does not respond to those who ask him whether he too will take a step back like the now former -chief of staff, Francesco Spano. Then, in the rain, before crossing the Montecitorio door, he responds with cryptic words, without wanting to add anything more.
Giuli, in a statement, commented on Spano’s setback: «With great regret, after having rejected him several times, I receive and accept the resignation of the Chief of Staff, Francesco Spano. My firm solidarity goes out to him for the barbaric climate of monstrosity to which he is subjected at these times. Last but not least, I reiterate to Francesco Spano my total esteem and gratitude for the remarkable technical professionalism and human quality demonstrated in various contexts, including the Ministry of Culture”.
