District-heated households stuck in high gas prices for another year

Even if they don’t use gas at all, the rising energy bill is a disappointment for many households with district heating.

The expected delay in the unbundling is partly due to Jetten’s wish to make agreements in the new heat law about ownership of heat networks. Much consultation is still needed on this.

Kröger and Grinwis, member of parliament GroenLinks of the Christian Union, react with disappointment. They had hoped that the minister would lift the disconnection from the heat act and introduce it urgently, but the minister did not agree. “Can’t you think of a temporary arrangement to disconnect these prices? asks Kroger. “I’m disappointed it’s taking longer now,” Grinwis says.

Deadline

As a result, users of a heat network will also have to deal with high energy prices in the coming winter months. According to a study by DWA, the price of customers of a heat network is now slightly lower than the price of gas.

Next winter, heat network customers will still have to pay the high price, but the ChristenUnie has set a new deadline. “This law should really come into effect in 2023, so that by the end of 2023 there will be a fair price for heat for the next winter for these people.”
