The cabinet announced that the hybrid heat pump will become standard for heating homes from 2026. This means that from then on people will have to switch to a more sustainable alternative when replacing the central heating system. In addition to the hybrid heat pump, there can also be a fully electric heat pump or connection to a heat network.
By establishing a leap year, the agency wants to bring clarity to suppliers, installers and home and building owners. “The urgency of sustainability is enormous and the speed must be increased,” says Minister of Housing De Jonge. He adds that there is an exception for non-eligible housing.
Jetten, Minister of Climate and Energy, says that a heat pump not only saves a lot of gas, but ‘is also good for the energy bill and the climate’. In the coming years, together with manufacturers and installers, he wants to train more technicians and expand heat pump production in the Netherlands.
