“They don’t know what to do to stop my candidacy”: Hernández on his sanction

Presidential candidate Rodolfo Hernández was notified this Thursday by the 16th Municipal Civil Court of Bucaramanga of the sanction imposed on him for an incident of contempt.

The punishment is due to the fact that the presidential candidate allegedly failed to comply with the order to remove some videos on his social networks in which he claimed that the former mayor of Floridablanca, Héctor Mantilla, was “corrupt”.

“They don’t know what to do anymore to stop the unstoppable growth of my candidacy. Now a judge who wants to arrest me for contempt. They fear the change we will achieve this Sunday, May 29, a change they will never be able to stop. There is no right,” Hernández said on his social networks.

He added: “4 days before the election, they are issuing a warrant for my arrest for some indictment videos that I uploaded more than a year ago and also removed from my networks more than a year ago. Don’t eat stories, what they fear is the change that comes with me.”

The revealed document calls for “sanction of Mr. Rodolfo Hernández Suárez for contempt with a five-day arrest.” However, it indicates that the sentence can be commuted with a “fine of 10 million pesos”.

“The Florida man, the boy with the long nails does not want to turn the money and claims every day that he is a verrado as a good politician,” was one of Hernández’s statements.

It should be noted that this judicial process began in 2020 when Héctor Mantilla sued Hernández to drop the charges, but the candidate for the League of Anti-Corruption Governors did not.
