Government crisis, Sergio Mattarella and Mario Draghi signed the decree dissolving the Chambers

The government crisis continues with its institutional steps. The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, received the President of the Senate of the Republic, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, and, later, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico, at the Quirinale Palace. Shortly after 5:30 pm, he arrived at Colle Mario Draghi: the prime minister left Palazzo Chigi to sign, as constitutional practice dictates, the decree for dissolution of the Chambers signed by the Head of State.

Meanwhile, Dire reports that political elections will be held on September 25. The date, after today’s dissolution of the Chambers, will be formalized by the convened Council of Ministers.
