Chega will be received by the President of the Republic this week, the head of state himself said in statements to journalists this afternoon, after a visit to Lisbon Cathedral. Marcelo has not indicated when the hearing will be certain, he only said it will be this week, Thursday or Friday.
André Ventura asked the public to complain to the President of the Republic about the way the parliamentary work in the plenary has been carried out by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, the socialist Augusto Santos Silva.
The request came a day after Chega’s deputies left the meeting room last Thursday in protest at the work of the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic after he commented on Ventura’s intervention against foreigners in Portugal.
The party believed that this was “another deplorable episode on the part of Augusto Santos Silva with regard to Chega, demonstrating once again his lack of impartiality and independence, acting as a representative of the ruling majority while should have been the proper functioning of parliamentary work, pluralism and democratic representation”.
