The National Electoral Council has decided to grant legal status to the movement of the League of Anti-Corruption Governors of Rodolfo Hernández.
This decision comes after the former presidential candidate submitted the necessary documents to be a political party along with his former formula to Vice-Presidency Marelen Castillo.
According to the resolution, the former mayor of Bucaramanga will temporarily assume the position of chairman of the new political party.
“To ensure the exercise of the fundamental right of the political opposition, as enshrined in Article 112 of the Constitution, and based on a broad interpretation of the democratic principle, it is essential that the Anti-Corruption Governors League Party has a legal status is awarded ( League),” the resolution says. .
It is important to note that Hernández and Castillo got more than 10 million votes in the second presidential round. Both politicians are in function of legislative work.
