In the context of the National Convention of the political party Radical Change, former MP César Lorduy was elected last Saturday as a candidate for the magistrate of the National Electoral Council.
The decision was taken unanimously by the community as members of the Rojiazules emphasized Lorduy’s parliamentary work.
They also recognized his “study skills and extensive knowledge of legal matters.”
It is important to note that the National Electoral Council is an autonomous and independent body that is part of the Electoral Organization, along with the National Registry of Civil Registry Article 120 of the Colombian Political Constitution. The CNE is composed of (9) magistrates elected by the Congress of the Republic in plenary session. So for now, César Lorduy will have to wait for full legislature to seal his arrival at the CNE.
Among the relevant decisions, Germán Córdoba was also confirmed as director of the party, which has held this position since November 2020.
Likewise, Cambio Radical remained independent of the incoming government of Gustavo Petro.
