Former SNP chairman says St Andrews University is “anti-Scottish” –

Former president of SNP MSP and Holyrood, St. Andrews University students have been criticized for calling them “poor souls who could not enter Oxbridge” and “anti-Scots”.

Tricia Marwick, who served as chief officer from 2011 to 2016, reacted angrily to a satirical article in the student newspaper The Saint that mocked Nicolas Sturgeon.

Ms Marwick, who is also the head of NHS Fife, responded angrily to an article in which she claimed that Scotland “wanted something worthy of British fur” and that the prime minister would “leave Beelzebub in grains”.

The article added: “Some people say that hell is a special place reserved for Nicolas Sturgeon, but I think it will be sent back to the door because it is too scary.

Refusing the pleasure of running through fire and never getting a “no” answer, the beautiful Miss Sturgeon has apparently decided to go to hell and return to the once green and pleasant land. Braveheart’s Last Tribute Act has been moved to Scotland. ”

The saint, who is independent from the university, said the article was satirical but sparked a reaction on social media from independence activists.

But Ms. Marwick said the publication “just bought all the stereotypes we have about them.”

Poor souls unable to enter Oxbridge are subject to all sorts of superstitions; Anti-Scots and anti-women.

“I’m not FIFA University. You trolls scarce at best. ”

In response to Ms Marvik’s response, the Saint newspaper said: “So far we have expressed regret over the decision to publish – a statement that we have since decided to reject.

“The saint acknowledges the insults caused by this article. The author’s intention was to make a satire on those who were ignorantly involved in the Scottish independence debate. ”

Donald Cameron, Scotland’s Representative for the Constitution, Foreign Affairs and Culture, said: “The irony is that Tricia Marwick is very clear when she tries to speak out against prejudice.

“S. Andrews University is a world-renowned institution to be proud of and perhaps this misunderstanding reveals more than they realize about SNP. ”

In a statement, Fife LibDem politicians Wendy Chamberlain and Willie Rennie said, This is one in several thousand students and one in St. It was an article published by an Andrews employee. It does not represent the point of view of staff or students.

“Therefore, it was totally unacceptable for the head of NHS Fife to fire the entire university with scornful remarks.”

In March of last year, Marwick was called “shocked” after saying that being born in Scotland didn’t make anyone Scottish enough.

“Scottish births aren’t just Scottish,” Marwick tweeted, adding that “sometimes it means Scottish producers.”
