Ramires says enough and leaves football at the age of 35: “After careful reflection I decided to retire”.

Ramires Santos do Nascimentoknown to all simply as Ramires, decided to hang up his boots for the last time and end his career as a professional football player. The Brazilian midfielder announced his choice with a post on his social profiles: “After some time of reflection, I would like to inform you that I have officially decided to end my career as a professional football player.”

The class of 1987 wore the shirts of Chelsea, Benfica and Palmeiras and still scored 51 games, tempered by 4 goals, for the Brazilian team. Growing up in Joinville, he established himself at Cruzeiro before arriving in Europe with the Aguias shirt: in Portugal Ramires only stays for one season because he is immediately attracted to Chelsea, where he becomes a fundamental part of the midline right away. In London he won a Premier League, an FA Cup, a League Cup, but above all a Champions League and a Europa League.

After the English interlude he decides to move to China, to Jiangsu Suning, before returning home in 2019 to Palmeiras. From 2020 he was released and after a period of reflection he chose the path of retirement: “I can only thank God first of all for giving me this opportunity and making me reach the highest levels that this sport can offer Thanks to the clubs I have with whom I played: I will always carry you in my heart and I thank the Brazilian team for giving me the opportunity to play in two World Cups. A dream come true”.

Forgot his goal against Barcelona in the semi-final back Champions League 2012, which helped the team coached by Di Matteo reach the final act of the tournament. With the Brazilian team, he won the Confederations Cup in 2009, defeating the United States in the final; but he was also part of the expedition that participated in the 2014 World Cup that ended with Mineirazo’s defeat against Germany.
