Edu Navarro couldn’t. The former Spanish goalkeeper, who in his career wore the jerseys of Huesca, Numancia and Lleida, died at the age of 43 years. A news announced directly by Real Zaragoza on its official social channels. In fact, Navarro worked as a coach for the goalkeepers of Deportivo Aragon, a club affiliated to Real Zaragoza. He left after a long illness and was greeted by many players and former Spanish football stars who wanted to remind him with a thought.

“Today is a very sad day for the Zaragoza family – reads the note published by the Spanish company – Our colleague Eduardo Navarro, goalkeeper coach at Deportivo Aragón, has passed away. All our support to your family and friends in these difficult and painful times. You will always be in our hearts, Ed.” As a goalkeeper Navarro played around 350 matches between Segunda, second division, and Segunda B. He was the goalkeeper of the first promotion of the Huesca and also during the club’s first season on Monday. “Our goalkeeper in the first promotion in the second and in the first season left us very early” wrote the club on social media.

A career that saw Edu Navarro live intense years in the ranks of Huesca. In that historic promotion season with the Aragonese team, the goalkeeper had played 33 games, and in the Second Division entered the field 37 races. After the experience with the Huesca shirt that was practically part of his football career, he then wanted to change in search of new stimuli by signing for Numantia, club where he played for three years until completing 125 games in the Second Division.

His retirement from football took place inutebobut he was always connected to this world when he became the goalkeeper coach of Deportivo Aragón, affiliated with Real Zaragoza, which today published this sad announcement revealing the death of Navarro. Malaga, Cádiz and Osasuna among the first clubs to comment on the news on social media: “Our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones. From Osasuna we send a big hug and all our encouragement.”
