José Quintana, the Cardinals’ first postseason card

It’s time for the truth. Gone are the records set in the regular season of the Major Leagues. Now it’s all or nothing. The glory or the disappointment. The postseason curtain opens in the best baseball in the world and Colombia will have four representatives at the finals party.

It may not have been the best year for our team in terms of numbers and production, but that doesn’t mean four of them are in the running to win the World Series title, which is everyone’s dream.

All our reps will have to start at the bottom as they will be in action this Friday with the Wild Card series, which for this campaign will be played to the best of three games and not just the winner of one.

The first to play is Harold Ramírez of Cartagena with the Tampa Bay Rays, who will face the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field in Cleveland from 11:07 a.m. Colombia time.

For this game, ‘el Pitbull’ will surely be one of the key figures of Florida’s ninth state on the offensive, looking for the first trick and gaining an advantage.

The starters for this meeting have already been defined. Harold Ramírez’ ninth will have star Shane McClanahan on the mound, who has a record of 12 wins and eight defeats this season. On the homeowners side, right-handed Shane Bieber (13-8) stands on the mound.

Barranquilla pitcher Luis Patiño has not yet been promoted to the Rays main roster, but that is a possibility that cannot be ruled out.

Joseph Quintana

The second Colombian baseball player to play in this postseason is Bolivarian pitcher José Quintana. The pitcher, one of the most experienced in our country, will participate in the series between the St. Louis Cardinals against the Philadelphia Phillies, which starts next Friday at 1:07 PM Colombian time at Busch Stadium.

The ‘Golden Lefty’ was chosen by his team as the starter in this first Wild Card game, in which, if they pass, they will face the Atlanta Braves. In this season, the Bolivarian has six wins and seven falls.

On the side of the Philadelphians, right-handed Zack Wheeler is the one leading the charge to take the mound in the first game, which has 12 wins and seven losses in the campaign.

Alfaro and Crismatt

The team with the most Colombian representatives in this postseason is the San Diego Padres, ninth with Jorge Alfaro of Sinceleja and Nabil Crismatt of Barranquilla, who has been added to the main roster in recent hours.

Both will collide with the New York Mets at Citi Field starting at 7:07 PM Colombian time. ‘El Oso’, as the man from Sucre is called, is expected to be a catcher at the Padres, while Crismatt Abuchaibe will wait for his chance in the bullpen of his ninth.

Starting this game for San Diego is righthander Yu Davish, who has 16 wins and eight losses; while for the Mets, the one who will be on the mound is right-handed Max Scherzer, who has 11 wins and five losses in the campaign.

Title Favorites

While Colombia is represented in the postseason with four players, the reality is that the ninth of these will not start as favorites to win the World Series title.

Of the qualified teams, based on numbers and performance, the big favorites are the ones resting in the first round, the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Because what has been done throughout the campaign, the Dodgers are a step above the rest, but since this is baseball anything can happen and there are sure to be some surprises in this exciting battle for the title. So to give our strength.
