Dominican Manny Machado and Jake Cronenworth homered and drove in two runs each, so the San Diego Padres, who did not have the presence of Sinceleja Jorge Alfaro’s catcher, defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-5 this Wednesday in the postseason in the main class.
With the win, the Padres tied the Division Series with the Dodgers with one win per side and now they head to San Diego where they play the third game of this game next Friday, which is scheduled for the best in five games.
Japanese Yu Darvish (1-0) withstood a three homerun attack by the bats of the Dodgers and went through five innings of seven strikeouts to give the game a narrow lead (3-4).
Veteran lefthander Clayton Kershaw started the game and left without a decision for the Dodgers, for whom he pitched five innings, striking out six and giving up three runs, including two produced by Machado, who hit him with a homerun and double RBI’s.
The Padres took the lead in the very first inning, when Machado dropped the ball behind the left field perimeter fence of Kershaw’s fields with no one circulating.
