Colombian James Rodríguez secured the second consecutive win for Michel González’s Olympiacos, who defeated Lamia (2-0) at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium to remain at the top of the Greek league, which is dominated by Panathinaikos.
The Colombian, who strengthened Piraeus’ team weeks ago together with Marcelo, who played the last half hour, has become a basic footballer for Olympiacos.
He scored his second goal against Lamia on matchday ten. It was already after twenty-two minutes when an inflated ball from Korean Hwang In-Beom was headed by the Colombian at goalkeeper Bojan Saranov.
Six minutes later, Congolese Cedric Bakambu took advantage of a pass from Andreas Ntoi to score the second.
Marcelo took the field in the 60th minute instead of Moldovan Oleg Reabciuk. It is the fourth game the former Real Madrid player has played with the Hellenic team, none of them as starters.
Olympiacos is third in the Greek league, one point behind number two AEK Athens and ten behind leader Panathinaikos.
