Colombia hosted the party and enjoy it. Cali’s Yenny Álvarez won two gold medals on Thursday at the World Weightlifting Championships taking place in Bogotá.
Álvarez, who had already placed second in 2021, won the 59-kilogram category in the jerk-and-jerk modalities.
The Valle del Cauca awarded the first two gold medals to the national representation by lifting 133 kilograms clean and jerk. In snatch, he lifted 101 kg and completed 234 in total.
Kuo Hsing-Chun of Chinese Taipei and Maude Charron of Canada took silver and bronze respectively.
This triumph is part of the claim of Yenny Álvarez, who tested positive for boldenone at the 2015 Youth Pan American Games.
Colombia collects two gold, two silver and six bronze medals, three of which were contributed by Manuela Berrío, who placed third in clean and jerk, snatch and total in the 45-kilogram division on Monday.
In this World Cup there are participants from 10 categories for the ladies and the same number for the men.
The Weightlifting World Cup in Colombia, which ends on the 16th of this month, has 550 athletes from 93 countries in action and is one of the highest tier as it is the first qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
