the belgian city of Hasselt became famous in the motorsport world because, despite being Dutch, the two-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen was born here. From today, however, it will also be known for another peculiarity: it will be the only city where it can be admired. the Porsche 919 Hybrid that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015, 2016 and 2017 in the attic of a building in the city center🇧🇷

Moving on from there, one inevitably wonders who, how and why decided to place the most recent jewel of the German company capable of establishing itself in the top category of the prestigious enduro race there. To answer two of the three questions above, just know that the man behind this extravagant idea is Luc Vanderfeestenpassionate about motorsports and Porsche, long time pilot who has several notable results in the Benelux Porsche Carrera Cup and who has repeatedly participated in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as co-owner of two Porsche centers in the Dutch cities of Eindhoven and Maastricht.

It is therefore evident that theex military (he spent 25 years in the Belgian army before embarking on a career as an entrepreneur and at the same time dedicating himself to motorsport) has a real passion for motorsport and the company’s cars from Stuttgart. So easy to deduce why he decided to install the most successful prototype in the history of Porsche on the terrace of his new penthouse located on the 8th floor from a building in the center of Hasselt: “I literally bring a motorsport icon into my home. Other men have a car collection in their basement, Now I have a racing car that I can admire from the living room. For me this car is a true work of art.” indeed explained the 55-year-old Belgian.

So all that’s left is to understand how did Luc Vanderfeesten get the car up there🇧🇷 First of all, it must be said that this is an original model, but without an engine: the Porsche 919 Hybrid ended up, therefore, on the balcony of the Belgian entrepreneur weighs only 200kg and therefore, thanks to the help of some collaborators, it was possible to lift it and carry it by hand through the narrow streets of the center of Hasselt. Arrived in front of Residence Refugia, behind the historic façade of Herkenrode Kazerne, after the car was hitched and lifted to the eighth floor of the building by a huge crane and then positioned on an ad hoc created platform. The 55-year-old man from Hasselt also thought about the possible deterioration of his beloved “work of art” just installed on the balcony of his house: on top of the layer of carbon fiber, which in itself does not rust, he had a special ceramic layer to increase its resistance to atmospheric agents🇧🇷

The man therefore thought of everything to the smallest detail, but, by his own admission, it is another of the hardest things to face in order to make his dream come true. The most difficult hurdle to overcome in order to put into practice the extravagant idea of putting a Porsche 919 Hybrid on the terrace of the house was actually convince his wife Sarahwith whom he will live in the new attic, to pamper him: “I managed to convince her that it’s a work of artindeed revealed Luc Vanderfeesten breathing a sigh of relief.
