An Australian derby erupted into chaos after a goalkeeper was hit in the face by an urn after fans stormed the pitch.

Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory met at AAMI Park in what was already a disappointing game.

The supporters planned a 20-minute attack in response to the A-League’s decision to move the next three grand finals to Sydney.

Immediately after that moment, tempers flared, with fans throwing themselves at billboards and City goalkeeper Thomas Glover taking a basket in the face.

It left him with a cut on his face and the referee ended the game early, signaling the players and management to leave the field immediately and launching fireworks onto the field.

City were leading 1-0 at this stage.

Melbourne City later tweeted: “Update: Tom Glover is being treated in the dressing room and is believed to have a concussion.”

A commentator for the game can be heard saying, “This is absolutely, absolutely unacceptable. Fans aren’t happy, it was clear, they’ve been talking about it all week. We knew it was going to happen.”
