Leo Messi would extend his contract with PSG until 2024: Le Parisien | tweet

World champion Lionel Messi has agreed with Paris St Germain to stay at the club at least until the 2023/24 season, the French newspaper Le Parisien reports on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old striker, a seven-time Golden Ball winner, commanded the Argentina national team that defeated France in the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and won the third championship in history for the South American team.

“At the beginning of December, in the middle of the World Cup, an agreement was reached (for Messi) to stay for at least one more season.” The newspaper reports this without citing the source.

Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi said this month that Messi was delighted with the Ligue 1 champion, adding that a contract extension would be discussed after the World Cup.

Messique has scored 12 goals and 14 assists for PSG in all competitions this season, and will leave the French capital Barcelona in 2021 on a two-year contract.
