Musetti coach panic attack pre-match: Tartarini admitted, now fine

Australian open

Simone Tartarini, Lorenzo Musetti’s trainer, was taken to the clinic for examinations shortly after the start of the first round of the Australian Open, lost by the blue tennis player against Harris. Probable panic attack from the technician, who is now fine.

What “I can’t stay focused” he shouted into his corner during Australian Open first round match surprised loss against South African Lloyd Harrisonly number 186 in the world, there was something else hidden in the mind and heart of Lorenzo Musetti. In those moments, the 20-year-old from Carrara would like to cross the eyes of his historic coach in the stands Simon Tartarinibut he wasn’t there and not by her choice.

In fact, the 54-year-old coach couldn’t be on the bench at field 7 at Melbourne Park to support the young talent of Italian tennis because shortly before the start of the match he had breathing problems that got worse during the first set, in the middle of which he was forced to leave the post to be taken to the clinic for examination. It was probably a severe panic attack.: fortunately the checks gave negative results, but Tartarini remained under observation.

The defeat suffered by Musetti can now be interpreted in an obviously different way: it is impossible for him to play with serenity and lucidity without his mentor in the corner, without even knowing the unfolding of the story (in the beginning there was even thought of a possible heart attack). This explains the bad start of the Tuscan who clearly lost the first two sets, then tried a comeback that seemed almost crowned in the tie-break of the fifth set, only to pay off the great effort and lose the match with Harris on the tightrope.

Tartarini is more than Musetti’s trainer, he has been training him since he was a child. It is inevitable to think that with his coach guiding him from the stands, the result of the first round of the Australian Grand Slam would have been different. The most important thing is that the coach is fine now: Musetti will have many tournaments ahead of him to make up for it.
