South Korea surprises Argentina at the Ice Hockey World Championship and their next opponent is the Netherlands

South Korea is the next opponent of the Netherlands at the Ice Hockey World Championships in India. In the halftime, this team was surprisingly too strong for Argentina. After a 5-5 draw, the Asians took the penalty better: 3-2.

Thanks to the group win in the group stage, the oranges have already secured the quarterfinals. National coach Jeroen Delmée’s team won in India against Malaysia (4-0), New Zealand (4-0) and Chile (14-0). This last win was the biggest win in a World Cup.

South Korea finished third in their group. There was a major defeat against Belgium (0:5) and Germany (2:7). In the meantime, the team recorded a narrow win against Japan: 2:1.

The match between the Netherlands and South Korea will be played on Wednesday in Bhubaneswar. A possible semi-final awaits the winner of the match between defending champions Belgium and New Zealand.

On the other side of the program, Australia, Spain, England and Germany are fighting for the final. The Netherlands is chasing the world title for the first time since 1998.

two penalty corners

Arrested in India as number seven in the last World Cup and the last Olympic Games, Argentina held the lead against South Korea for a long time. The duel in the second round seemed to have been finalized as Nicolas Keenan scored his second goal early in the last quarter, making the score 5:3. However, after two penalty corners, South Korea again reached the same level with Jang Jong-hyun and Lee Nam-yong.

South Korea then took the penalty shootout better. Lucas Toscani missed the decisive ball after just 8 seconds, scoring a goal. The kidnapping sparked rejoicing among Koreans, who had 48 hours to prepare for the Orange match.
