Mark Hudson has spoken out for the first time since his sacking from Cardiff City, insisting he is “eternally grateful” for the chance to coach the Bluebirds.
Hudson was sacked shortly after a 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic, a result which took City to a ninth game without a win in all competitions.
His sacking means Cardiff are now looking for their third manager of the season, with just three points separating City from the Championship.

In a statement released by the League Managers Association, Hudson thanked his players, the backroom team, as well as the Bluebirds board and supporters, urging the latter to support the team as they look to move out of the relegation zone.
Also highlighted was Steve Morrison’s predecessor, who brought Hudson back to the capital as part of his backroom crew.
“It’s been just over a week since I resigned as manager of Cardiff City,” he began. “It is difficult to put into words and share the honor and privilege of leading this team.
“I would like to thank the fans, you Bluebirds, for making me and my family feel at home from the first minute I arrived at the club. You are the lifeblood of the club and the way you have supported the team, the coaching staff and my family is a testament to the people of Cardiff and our fans around the world. Please continue to support the team, coaches and manager.
“I also want to thank Steve Morrison for bringing me back to Cardiff. Without him, none of this would be possible.
“I am extremely grateful to the board and owners for the opportunity to first be captain, then coach and finally manage this great club.
“I also want to recognize the players for their dedication and commitment during my tenure. I enjoyed every minute of working with this group. The team showed the passion and will that the club and the fans deserve every day in training and in games.
My coaching staff deserves a special mention for the work they’ve done this season. They have shown diligence and ambition in tackling work-related challenges during my time in office. The same goes for all the great people I’ve met and worked with at the club, they make the difference behind the scenes.”
Given their history together, Hudson’s commitment to the Bluebirds clearly runs deep and he seems to have hinted that he is open to returning to the club in some capacity in the future.
“I am leaving with a full heart and looking forward to what the future holds for me and my family,” he added. “I wish the club, the players, the coaching staff and the fans every success in the future. I’m sure our paths will cross again.”
