Novak Djokovic has ended his partnership with his coach Marian Vajda. The 56-year-old Slovak has been keeping twenty Grand Slam winners under his wing for at least fifteen years.

“Marian stood by me in the most important and unforgettable moments of my career. We have achieved incredible things together and I am so grateful for his friendship and dedication. He will always be a part of my family. I will never thank him. enough for everything he does,” Djokovic wrote on his site.

According to Djokovic, he and Vajda already decided to split up after the ATP Finals last year. In Slovakia, the Serb won twenty Grand Slam titles. In 2017, Djokovic also decided to leave Vajda, but a year later the successful duo reunited. Goran Ivanisevic, who was added to the coaching staff by Djokovic in 2019, will remain in the team.

“During my time with Novak, I had the privilege of watching him grow into the actor he is today,” said Vajda. said. “I look back with great pride and am incredibly grateful for the achievements we have achieved together. I remain his biggest support on and off the track and look forward to new challenges.”

It has been a bumpy year for Djokovic so far. ‘Djoker’ was not admitted to the Australian Open earlier this year because he has not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
