Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, who suffered a second-degree injury to the iliac psoas in his left leg while playing against American Mackenzie McDonald in the round of 32 of the Australian Open, said on social networks on Thursday that “the results” and that “the conditions” (estimated fall between six and eight weeks) “remain the same”.
“Today I went to the Teknon Tennis Clinic in Barcelona where they did some tests. The Melbourne results have been confirmed and the deadlines remain the same,” Nadal said on his Twitter account.
“The treatments to follow have been established and in 3 weeks they will carry out new tests to see the evolution,” adds the Balearic tennis player.
The injury occurred when Nadal, who was defending the title in Australia, tried to stretch to return a ball on his right when the score was 6-4 4-3 against McDonald.
Despite the discomfort, Rafa Nadal decided not to give up and fought without being able to hit a backhand until the American finished the match in the second round 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.
The Spaniard will miss his next appointments on the tennis calendar in Doha and Dubai, which will be held in the last week of February and the first week of March.
