Sven Mijnans trades Sparta Rotterdam for AZ. Alkmaarder awaits Dani de Wit, who is battling a stubborn foot injury, out of the game. Mijnans signed a contract until mid-2028.
Mijnans, 22, has been in Sparta’s midfield for three seasons. Under the guidance of manager Maurice Steijn, he is currently running his strongest year at Sparta, which has resulted in a very impressive sixth place in the major leagues.
AZ is surprisingly at least as good as its current number two. With De Wit absent and Hakon Evjen sold to Bröndby, the club was looking for midfield reinforcements and Mijnans wasn’t the only club looking to do so.
Feyenoord also reported
Feyenoord also expressed interest in the left-footed player, but Mijnans himself clearly favored Alkmaar.
Mijnans has played 3 goals and 5 assists in 19 Premier League games this season.
