Gareth Bale stunned the crowd on his PGA Tour debut with a surprise chip victory on day one of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in the United States.

The famous event, which takes place on California’s famous links, competes with famous players alongside the best golfers in the world.

The 33-year-old admitted he was nervous during an interview just before teeing off, but managed to calm down after completing the first hole.

Not a bad start. However, he found himself in a tight spot on the second hole, with his third shot coming from the fairway close to the flag.

But, as he has done so many times in his football career, Bale produced a moment of true magic, hitting an incredible chip that landed just yards away from him for a kick to the turf.

You can check out her impressive snap in the tweet below.

It was a shot that surprised a commentator who said: “It left the track. This is where he takes his third shot after the second. He comes down and makes an incredible four-foot putt!

The former Wales captain recently made a similar impression on world number 3 Jon Rahm, who had played with Bale for some time before the event and was impressed by the Welshman’s talent.

“I said to Gareth, ‘You can’t be that good at professional football and golf at the same time, it just doesn’t seem fair,’” he said.

“You can’t be dedicated to one thing and have so much golf talent, it’s not fair.”

Bale, who announced his retirement from football after guiding Wales to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is one of 156 fans taking part in the competition, which runs until 5 February. Other celebrities in attendance include actor Bill Murray, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, actor Jason Bateman, rapper Macklemore and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

The competition also features so many pros, including US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick and world number five Patrick Cantlay among the greats.
