LeBron James becomes the leading scorer in NBA history

LeBron James reached the NBA Olympus this morning. With a fade-away basket late in the third quarter, the Lakers star surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s legendary record to become the leading scorer in NBA history.

LeBron needed 36 points in tonight’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder to beat Abdul-Jabbar’s legendary record of 38,387 points.

In the end, it only took three-quarters to do it, and when he finally did, LeBron raised his arms amid euphoria at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, USA.

Faced with such a feat, the NBA temporarily suspended the game and paid tribute to a teary-eyed LeBron who thanked his family, friends and teammates.

“All your help, all your passion have helped me get to this point,” he said.

He also said he “couldn’t have dreamed better in a million years” about what this magical night was like.

Abdul-Jabbar, on hand in Los Angeles to watch LeBron snatch a current record from 1989, hugged “King James” in the middle of the court and posed for the photo of the relay race between two basketball myths.

Last year, LeBron became the leading scorer in NBA history when points scored in the regular season are added to those from playoff games, but the official NBA score does not take playoff scores into account.

This new milestone for LeBron, 38, joins a monumental career: 20 years of top-level experience, 4 NBA titles (2012, 2013, 2016, 2020, 4 regular season MVP awards (2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013) ) and 19 All-Star selections.
