Charlotte Kool won the first stage of the United Arab Emirates Tour. The DSM rider was by far the fastest in the sprint after a 109km race between Port Rashid and Port of Dubai, ahead of SD Worx’s Lorena Wiebes.
Wiebes was still competing for DSM in 2022, and Kool had run for him in many of his 23 wins.
Wiebes, 23, also seemed to be leading at the right time, but equally old Kool was impressively behind by almost ten meters and won by three bike lengths.
Third big win
De Blaricumse has achieved her third major win, winning a stage of the Ladies’ Tour in both 2021 and 2022. It’s a great feeling to be the first stage winner of the Women’s Tour of UAE,” said Kool. “I worked really hard for this race and it’s great to sprint well.”
The United Arab Emirates Tour consists of four stages and ends on Sunday.
