The traces of Colombia in a new edition of the Caribbean Series

The Vaqueros de Montería, who finished fourth in the 2023 Caribbean Series, lead the group of the best players of the season, after five of their players were chosen in the dozen of the most outstanding players of the tournament called “All Stars”.

Second baseman Francisco Acuña, shortstop Dayan Frías, right fielder Gustavo Campero, starter Eduard López and Jordan Díaz, as the designated hitter, make up the honor group, which consists of two Mexicans, two Venezuelans, one Puerto Rican and one Dominican.

The Colombians recorded four wins during the round robin round and lost the semi-finals 5-7 to Venezuela, entitling them to play in third place against Cañeros de Mochis, from Mexico, a game they lost 0-0. 1 lost.

The Vaqueros arrived strongly at the Caribbean event, aiming to defend the crown won last year by the Caimanes de Barranquilla. Although they failed to make it to the finals, Montería’s team scored 58 hits and scored 39 points over seven matches that cheered their thousands of fans in Caracas and the coastal state of La Guaira.

Along with the Colombian quintet, the name of manager José “Alguacil” Moreno stands out, the first Venezuelan to be chosen for the “All Stars” since 2006, when Carlos Subero took the best driver award in the season that ended with victory for the Caracas lions.

Both the team of Caracas and the Dominicans Tigres del Licey, the team that has won the Caribbean Series the most, will compete this Friday for the crown at the 65th edition.
