Anthony Edwards, De’Aaron Fox and Pascal Siakam will finally play in the NBA All Star to be played on February 19 in Salt Lake City, USA, replacing the injured Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Zion Williams.
The NBA announced the replacements on Friday, saying in a statement that ownership of the three injured players would be taken over by Joel Embiid, Lauri Markkanen and Ja Morant.
The presence of Edwardso Minnesota Timberwolves and Siakam for the Toronto Raptors, in the All-Star, even if it is due to injuries, will silence the criticism the NBA received for not including the two players in the first place.
Edwards was the only first pick in the 2020 draft and from his early days with the Timberwolves, he excelled in spectacular dunks and athleticism.
In his third season in the NBA, Edwards is averaging a career-high 24.7 points per game. In addition, the Wolves player is the leader in steals (96) and minutes played (2,099) this season.
The Cameroonian siakam became the Raptors’ most valuable player, averaging 25 points per game, also the highest of his career.
Siakam’s appearance at Salt Lake City’s Vivint Arena will be the player’s second All-Star appearance.
In the 2019–20 season, Siakam became the first player to become an All-Star starter in the G League NBA development league.
Finally, De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings will also make his All-Star Game debut.
