A hard blow is added to the life of Risaraldense coach Juan Carlos Osorio: his father, Hernán Osorio, has passed away.
The former coach of Atlético Nacional, among others, had rejected offers from foreign football to keep an eye on his father’s condition.
In 2020, Osorio’s father had a leg amputated and from then on his health deteriorated.
Hernán was part of good and bad points in his son’s career, such as when he won the championship with Atlético Nacional and when he took the reins of the Mexican team. His funeral took place in Pereira. He will be cremated by his family’s decision.
Atlético Nacional, a group that commemorates ‘pro’ Osorio, has issued a statement referring to the moment his former coach is going through.
“Atlético Nacional deeply regrets the death of Hernán Osorio, the father of Juan Carlos Osorio. We send a message of support, encouragement and strength to his family, friends and relatives for this painful loss, especially to our former coach. We live with from the bottom of our hearts and we hope that you can overcome this difficult moment soon,” the text reads.
América de Cali, the last club Osorio led in Colombia, offered this message of solidarity on its social networks: “We regret the death of Mr. Hernán Osorio, father of technical director Juan Carlos Osorio. We express our solidarity and sincere condolences to Professor Osorio and his family at this difficult time.”
Once Caldas also joined the messages of solidarity: “Once Caldas laments the death of Mr. Hernán Osorio, father of Professor Juan Carlos Osorio. The white team joins in the prayers and accompanies his family, friends and relatives in this difficult moment. Peace in his grave”.
Similarly, Itagüí-Leones FC, a team that includes Juan Sebastián Osorio, son of Juan Carlos, made an announcement: “the #FamiliaItagüíLeonesFC regrets the death of Mr. Hernan Osorio, father of teacher Juan Carlos Osorio and grandfather of our player, Juan Sebastian Osorio Ceballos. Our sincere condolences to them, their family and friends.
