In a spectacular final, Nacional defeated Pereira 4-3 and thus conquered the Super League

It was a game. Lively, exciting. Take and give me Almost out of a movie. With drama and tension, with action and surprising scenes. In a blood-curdling final, especially in the second half, Atlético Nacional defeated Deportivo Pereira 4-3 to be crowned champions of the Super League.

Matecana’s team, which showed guts, commitment and a good game, took the lead in the first period with two goals from Juan Pablo Zuluaga.

The greens, encouraged by their fans, tried to react and nullify the score with a goal from Tomás Ángel, the son of Juan Pablo Ángel, former striker of Atlético Nacional and the Colombian team.

The joy of that goal was short-lived, however, as Arley Rodríguez put the visiting team ahead again.

Nacional did not deflate and remained in the fray with Dorian Pabón as bastion and compass. But the local team’s Angel was the one who showed up again to make it 3-2. Tomás scored a great goal and brought the breaks closer to the title.

The first leg, in Pereira, had ended 1-0 in favor of Nacional, so a draw was enough.

Those led by Alejandro Restrepo were in good shape and gave Verdolaga a hard time until goalkeeper Aldair Quintana made a mistake, recklessly cutting a long ball off John Duque and awarding him a clear penalty. The Barranquilla referee Bismark Santiago, who did an excellent job, initially did not sanction him, but after reviewing the game in VAR, he immediately pointed it out, without hesitation and despite the aurirrojos’ angry claims.

Dorlan Pabón stopped at the goal and fired a shot that overcame resistance from Quintana, a former National.

Minutes later, Pabón got inspired and scored a great goal that he is used to scoring with his powerful shot with his right foot. He took a diagonal kick and made the ball untouchable for the keeper.

The Matecañas, who sold their defeat dearly and came close to glory, fought to the end, but in vain, the die was cast, the exciting duel was decided in favor of the host.
