“They sang ‘Vinicius son of…’ and ‘Vinicius die’; unhappy”: Courtois

Belgian Thiaut Courtois, goalkeeper of Real Madrid, described the attitude of the crowd at the El Sadar stadium as “deplorable” and insulted his teammate, Brazilian Vinicius Júnior, with chants such as “Vinicius son of…” and “Vinicius dies ”.

“There’s a minute’s silence and someone says ‘son of…’ and that’s a pity. They sang Vinicius that, it’s a pity. There are beautiful and encouraging fans, but without saying that nonsense,” he said on DAZN.

“Vini played a good game, too bad he didn’t score. You have to look at the people, not at Vinicius. You see children combing with their parents and that is a pity. You have to look at others. Of course Vini can get hot, but it’s more outside,” he added.

He also commented on how he saw the clash between Brazilian Vinicius Junior and Moi Gómez at the end of the first half, which ended with a yellow card for both.

“I don’t think anything happened. They fell, a footstep from ‘Vini’, he went to the press and he doesn’t touch it, he falls… I don’t think they faced each other, as the referee said speaking alone,” he judged.

A Courtois who believed that getting the three points gives them confidence for the visit to Liverpool in the round of 16 of the Champions League next Tuesday.

“We have to keep winning games. It’s always difficult here, an intense game and it’s a good win to face the game in Liverpool. We have to keep pushing, there’s still a long way to go,” he said.
