Colombian Juan David Mosquera gave the Portland Timbers a 1-0 win against Sporting Kansas City in Providence Park on Monday in the game that closed the program of the first day of the American MLS.
Mosquera scored the decisive goal after six minutes, beating the keeper with a low shot from his right foot after an assist from Yimmy Chara, who would retire shortly after due to injury.

The 20-year-old right back has been playing in Portland since the summer of 2022 and celebrated his first goal with the Timbers shirt, in which he shares the dressing room with his compatriots Yimmy and Diego Chara.
Brazilian Evander Da Silva made his debut in the Timbers, who signed for about ten million dollars with Midtjylland.
At Sporting, Spanish defender Andrey Fontás, former player of Barcelona or Celta Vigo, was the starter, who is heading into his sixth season in American football.
The game was played this Monday after it was postponed on Saturday due to the heavy rains that have fallen on the west coast of the United States in recent days.
The next day, the Timbers face defending champion Los Angeles FC, while Sporting Kansas City take on the Colorado Rapids.
