Milan Menten won the 55th of the Walloon semi-classic Le Samyn. The 26-year-old Belgian, who recorded his only professional victory at the Cro Race in 2021, beat Hugo Hofstetter and Edward Theuns in the sprint.
The third race on Belgian roads also ended with a small race for the famous Soudal-QuickStep. After Fabio Jakobsen left early in the race, Kasper Asgreen also crashed before the sprint.
Mike Teunissen was the best Dutchman in eighth place.
Best for women Bastianelli
Former world champion Marta Bastianelli in women was the best. After 99.4 kilometers, the Italian (UAE) defeated compatriot Maria Confalonieri in the sprint at Dour.
Shortly after leaving Quaregnon, the hill-and-cobblestone race ignited across Wallonia, with several leading groups more or less ahead. At the start of the first of the four local tours (48 km driving distance), there was a large group that was gradually decreasing. On the final climb Bastianelli attacked and only Confalonieri was able to follow him. At the sprint, the 2017 world champion (35) was clearly a number one big for his 29-year-old compatriot.
