Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal confirmed on Tuesday that he will not be able to play at the Indian Wells tournament, the first ATP tournament of the year, nor at the second, in Miami, due to the injury to the iliopsoas in his left leg that he has been dragging since January.
“I’m sorry I can’t compete in Indian Wells or Miami. I’m very sorry I can’t be there. I will miss all my American fans, but I hope to see them later this year at the Summer Swing. ” Nadal writes on his Twitter account Twitter.
“I took some time off, I started rehabilitation, the gym and physiotherapy as the doctors had told me. I prepared to return in the best conditions,” adds the Spaniard.
At the last Australian Open in mid-January, Nadal injured the iliopsoas in his left leg and has a recovery period of six to eight weeks.
At the beginning of February, Nadal announced that due to an injury he would not be able to play in an exhibition game he had scheduled against his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz on March 5 in Las Vegas (USA).
That withdrawal had left his participation in Indian Wells, the first ATP 1,000 of the season and held March 8-19 in the California desert on the air, until it was confirmed this Tuesday that he ultimately won’t be able to be there. Not even in the next ATP 1,000, which will be held in Miami from March 22 to April 2.
