The Japan Fair Trade Commission on Tuesday decided to sue six companies, including the country’s largest advertising agency, Dentsu, for allegedly rigging advertisements for the test events of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The Japanese tax authorities understand that the companies, including the second largest national advertising agency Hakuhodo or event organization Cerespo, have joined forces with Yasuo Mori, deputy CEO of Tokyo 2020, to handle pilot grants.
A total of six companies and seven individuals, including Mori, will be brought to court for this particular property.
It is believed that these companies negotiated the concessions in advance to determine the winners of the bids to host the test events of Japan’s last Olympic event, in violation of the country’s antitrust laws.
