Courtois: “We can’t find a way to score”

Belgium’s Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois lamented defeat in the classic, his team’s scoreless dominance against Barcelona and acknowledged that they had not found “the way to score a goal”.

“Today we dominated the game, they got quite defensive, they tried with a lot of bad luck to defend the result of a goal. I put it in and rebound in Militao comes in. They won when they didn’t deserve it, but it was difficult for us to create chances and shoot on goal. We were in control, but we couldn’t find a way to score a goal,” he analyzed on TVE.

Courtois acknowledged that the merit of the result belonged to Barcelona and the defensive strength it displayed at the Bernabéu. “They defend well, they conced few goals. The last pass didn’t work for us, they defended well, it’s their merit and we have to try to win in the second leg.”

“If you don’t win against Barcelona then the feeling is bad. We wanted to win at home, but this is not going to change the return or the League on Sunday. We have to win our game and keep going,” he said.
