European Championship favorites Bol and Klaver advanced to the semi-finals in the 400 meters without any problems.

Femke Bol and Lieke Klaver underlined that they are favorites with their easy wins in the 400 meters series at the European Indoor Championships held in Turkey. They will play the semi-finals again at 17:55 on Friday.

In the men’s competition, Liemarvin Bonevacia and Isayah Boers also reached the 400m semi-finals.

Bol is a brand new world record holder from afar. He ran an incredible time of 49.26 seconds at the Dutch Indoor Championships on February 19. Friday morning in Istanbul didn’t have to be this hard. With the handbrake on, the defending champion won at 52.35.

In the first two rounds, Klaver clearly set himself apart from his opponents. He also didn’t have to dig deep to qualify for the next round. Klaver, who finished fifth in the final two years ago, won in 52.72 seconds.

Lisane de Witte entered a tough race. The 30-year-old player fell behind in the first round. He could no longer close the big gap in the competition in the second division. De Witte finished fourth in 53.61 seconds. That wasn’t fast enough for another appearance later on Friday.

Marissa Damink failed to qualify for the 1,500m final. The 27-year-old player ran last for a long time in the third and final series. In the last two rounds it has risen quite a bit. The national indoor champion finished fifth with 4:11.38. The first three of the three series qualified for the final battle on Saturday evening, supported by the three fastest losers. Damink was not one of them.
