Here’s the roundup of the latest Swansea City news on Friday 3rd March.

Martin wants to ‘change energy’ before Luton crash

Swansea City manager Russell Martin has said his team need a change of “energy” and a more positive outlook if they are to get the season back on track.

The Swans have won just three of their last 18 league games and face another tough task at Luton Town on Saturday.

Martin admits that some tough results have taken a toll on the team’s confidence lately, but he believes the group can learn a lot from the last few weeks.

“We recognize that and now we need to start showing positive energy on the field,” he said.

“I stopped feeling any negativity. It’s ridiculous. I can’t help players if I feel this way. I hope we can show some results in the next game.

“We trained well this week, I feel the energy has returned.

“I think the biggest thing you have as a leader is your energy. I haven’t handled my business well these past few weeks.

“I did really well in January when everyone was unhappy and worried about what was going to happen, but after that I felt a bit of a burden and I took it with me.

“But forward and upward. I think it’s been a great week for me personally and I think it will be for the team as well.”

Fulton: We need that tipping point

Jay Fulton insists the Swansea City camp haven’t lost their minds despite recent problems, but admits the players need to find some kind of spark to turn the season around.

“The atmosphere around the team and the training ground has not changed,” he said.

“We are a closed group and everything comes down to improving our results.

“Overall, we didn’t win as many games as we would have liked, there were some draws, but the results weren’t bad.

“It’s just trying to find that tipping point. We are working hard to get results and win games.

“It’s tough for some of the younger players, they’ve never been through this before, but we’re happy to have another game so soon to try and get that win.

“As players, we have to work hard and work hard.

“You can see that confidence has been a little bit shaken in some games like Birmingham where we conceded a few late goals.

“But the only way to get it back is to get back on the field, be ready to play, keep pressing and be aggressive.”

Taylor plays the role of New Wales

Former Swansea City star Neil Taylor has joined the Wales youth team as assistant manager to Matty Jones.

Taylor, who played 43 games for Wales and was part of the team that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016 in France, is ready to take the first steps in his coaching career and says he is enjoying the challenge ahead .

“I am delighted to have had the opportunity to join the coaching staff of this talented under-21 group,” he said.

“Having walked the path players are currently walking during my playing days, I feel I can have a positive impact on their careers.

“I appreciate the opportunity Matty has given me and now I can’t wait to start working with the players and move on to the next qualifying campaign.”

Edwards is enjoying Martin’s fight

Luton boss Rob Edwards says he is looking forward to meeting Russell Martin at Kenilworth Road and says he will not be paying attention to Swansea City’s league position on Saturday afternoon.

Commenting on Swansea’s style of football and how they are becoming what many consider a disappointing position in the league, he said: “I won’t comment on where they are in the table. They have a very clear identity. Russell is very, very confident in the way his team is playing and he totally believes in that, and that was a big part of his signing credentials. That’s how it works.

“He and his coaching staff are very good at this and can make it happen.

“In terms of how they train and play, I can speak very, very highly of them.

“We’re going to have to find answers to try to get them into trouble. Overall, we’ve been doing really well playing against teams that like to control the game.

“I’m looking forward to it. It will be a good tactical result.”
