Bol and Klaver convince over 400 meters at European indoor championships, men’s

Femke Bol is chasing the European championship by climbing over 400 meters in Istanbul on Saturday evening. The world record holder played a very strong semi-final on Friday evening. Bol won in 52.19 seconds. He didn’t need to do everything to outrun his opponents.

Lieke Klaver also made an impression. Bol’s closest rival won his race in 51.43 seconds. Klaver has so far only won medals in relay races at international title tournaments. He will fight for the individual medal in Istanbul.

Bol was satisfied with his performance. He had managed to conserve energy. “I want to be the leader after 200 meters. I found it good at 150 yards. From then on I was able to consolidate. It was important to save as much energy as possible. A few weeks ago he set a surprise world record (49.26) at the NK hall.

‘Good figure’

He did not dare to say on Friday whether such a stunt was possible on Saturday evening either. “You can be in shape, but you also have to race well,” Bol guessed. “I feel good and I think my coaches know exactly how to give their best on Saturday.”

Klaver looks to be their biggest rival on Saturday. He also had an excellent time at NK, where he was beaten by a released Bol: 50.34. “I did two races today. After resting for 24 hours, I can run better tomorrow,” he said, placing fourth in the 400 meters at last year’s Outdoor World Cup.

Bonevacia and Boers eliminated

Liemarvin Bonevacia and Isayah Boers are absent in the 400m final on Saturday night. The duo were eliminated in the semi-finals in Istanbul.

National record holder Bonevacia (33) finished the semi-final in fifth place with 46.60. The national record holder (45.48) won a bronze medal two years ago.

The Boers, who beat Bonevacia in the NK Hall final two weeks ago, were even worse in their race. He finished sixth and last at 47.39, starting in the first hard lane.
